the Indonesian Smelter and Refining Enterprises Association (AP3I) which was established and inaugurated by the Minister of Industry on 20 May 2015 as a forum for communication and consultation between members, between members and the government on matters related to the processing and refining industry. mining results about the problem and trying to find a solution.
AP3I members currently consist of mineral processing companies such as copper, nickel, iron ore, tin, silica, zircon, and manganese as well as supporting industrial companies. The purpose of the establishment of AP3I is to foster, develop the capabilities, activities, and interests of Indonesian smelter companies to realize national interests that are based on growth and equity so that the foundation of the national economy and industry can stand stronger, be highly competitive, and be able to host in their own country. according to the mandate in Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution.
One of the things that AP3I has done is related to nickel slag, which was previously categorized as B3 waste. AP3I struggled for more than two years to remove nickel slag from the B3 waste category until the government responded with the issuance of Ministry of Environment and Forestry Ministerial Regulation no. 10 of 2020 and the Job Creation Act Law no. 3 of 2021 which issued nickel slag from the category of B3 waste (attached to the letter to the National Resilience Council led by RI-1). In addition, AP3I also encourages the government to lower gas prices in the range of USD 6.00/MMBTU (attached to the letter to the Minister of Industry).
What AP3I is working on is that the Mineral Smelting and Refining industries can be given the same incentives as the Upstream industry and the industry in the SEZ Zone. Because logically it is an economic supply chain link.
